​Safe Burning Guidelines
until May 9th, 2026
1. Only Natural vegetation, no trash or manmade materials
2. Hand Build Pile on flat ground or depression being mindful of weather, vertical clearance and pile size. No machine built piles.
3. Have appropriate water and at least one metal hand tool
2. Never leave fires unattended
3. All fires must be extinguished by dark
2026 Burn Ban
Upcoming burn ban starting May 10th 2026 through October 20th 2026. This ban applies to all residents inside the service area of Gem County Fire Protection District #2. All outside burning is prohibited as of May 10th 2026 except for recreational fires in appropriate burn pits/rings. Burning in burn barrels is prohibited

Appropriate Pit/Ring
1. Ring shall not be larger than 4 feet in diameter
2. Ring must be made of rocks or metal, and must be a complete ring.
3. Area around the ring must be cleared of flammable debris.
